ReThink & ReConnect was created from the insight that the major problems we face today are hardwired in systems and silos. Efforts to ‘reform’ aren’t reaching the root. We need to create interdisciplinary, intergenerational, inter-experience(!) conversations and plans of action.

This is the space to ReConnect to yourself, your community, and your legacy. To ReThink what is possible in this world and how we will achieve widespread and generational well-being and sustainability.

Resilience

What are the hidden impacts of unhealed trauma? in education? in healthcare? in food? in leadership decisions? What if conditions everywhere were designed to offset or even avoid those impacts?

Economics

What if our budget forecasts on organizational, local, and federal levels were 10 yrs? 30 yrs? 7 generations? What if GDP were not the primary measure of how we are doing as a country?

Health

How would we design healthcare systems if we took full advantage of community conditions, human connection, and our relationship with nature?

Learning

What would happen throughout society if education systems were designed based on how people actually learn?

Food / Farm

What would agriculture and food policies and investments look like if we all had an understanding of the long-term, cross-sector implications on the economy, humans, and soil health?

Community

How might we share with each other our journey forward … our actions, our successes and our challenges? How might we grow this community… this movement …from where each of us stands?

 
 

What We Will Do

We will look way back at the history of humankind, learn from centuries of knowledge and experience and wisdom, observe natural systems, consider the most recent neurological science, and ponder real-life examples where things are done differently. We will read, observe, experience, and reflect. We will connect the dots.

And then… we will consider what each of us might do differently going forward so we leave a legacy we can be proud of. How will our policy people reach out across industries? How will our finance people look further out and across lines and boxes? How will our communities look beyond short-term economic measures of success? How will we raise our children differently? How will we consider more deeply the values of agency, belonging and reciprocity?

 

Why did I create ReThink and ReConnect?

Honestly? Because I believe people are amazing. And when we have conditions that create agency, belonging and reciprocity,... and when we have time and space to connect with each other ... and when we have shared wisdom... well, ...when we have these things, I believe we can bring powerful change into this world.

I grew up professionally in a world that liked targets and metrics and matrices and timelines and action items and reports and outcomes. I was good at it and rewarded for figuring out the system. I was able to do well in several industries. I worked hard but I also benefited from all sorts of privilege. There are many like me.

And then I met all sorts of people who didn’t benefit... and many who were actually hurt. People judged as poor or angry or lazy or mean or scary or even evil.

And I started to notice some themes. And I started to explore those themes. And I realized a whole lot of us think we are doing well when we’re actually pretty ill. And I saw that there are models for better ways... not models with political names or economic names... but people finding (sometimes magical) ways around the broken systems. The system flaws started to scream at me. And the potential of people... without boxes and targets and matrices...the potential of changemakers working together across sectors and demographics became clear.

So I decided to create an intersectional safe space for people to share and connect and learn and act together... with one goal: the betterment of people and planet.
